conception and design of a poster series for lectures and readings on the critical assessment of innovative and controversial technologies
In order for future technologies to bring the greatest possible benefit and value to mankind, it is essential that we deal with the technical, social, ethical and religious issues that affect them today. With this bachelor thesis I would like to promote the interaction between the public and science. For that purpose, a series of fictional events was developed that address selected innovative technologies.
ABSTRACT
The number of companies and individuals, who are working on the development of new technologies, is as high as ever. Not each of these technologies will stand the test of time and prove itself as advantageous. Just as not every innovation will turn out to be the trigger for the demise of mankind. In order for future technologies to bring the greatest possible benefit and value to mankind, it is essential that we deal with the technical, social, ethical and religious issues that affect them today. An important step towards this is to encourage interaction between the public and scientists, engineers and entrepreneurs. Much more than is the case now, the general public needs to be educated and encouraged to get involved in the development of new technologies. A first step to support this process would be to make highly scientific information, which are difficult to understand for laypeople, more accessible. It is crucial that this is not done through sensation-addicted mass media, who distort reality and facts, but through objective, neutral and authentic media. With this bachelor thesis I would like to promote the interaction between the public and science. For that purpose, a series of fictional events was developed that address selected innovative technologies.
